SATYR WITH WINESKIN BRONZE

An elegant bronze sculpture of of a Satyr with wine skin, also known as the ‘Drunken Satyr’. The original of this work was a fountain figure unearthed in the garden of the House of the Centenary in Pompeii. This piece is a fine example of late 19th-century Grand Tour art – a period when wealthy European travelers collected classically inspired works as souvenirs of their travels. The sculpture stands on a marble and base 90 x 96mm.
