An attractive pair of engravings dedicated to Gabriel Allegrin (1733-1787), Lawyer at the Parliament, Councilor to the King, Alderman, Lieutenant General of Police, alternating with the City of Rochefort; Sculptor of the Navy at the port of the same City; Member and Correspondent of the Royal School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture of Poitiers. He was a registered lawyer and official legal advisor to the King of France. On June 1st, 1764, he filled this prestigious vacancy to head the naval sculpture workshop at the Rochefort Arsenal. In this role, he was responsible for designing and carving the intricate decorative woodwork, figureheads, and stern ornaments for warships of the French Royal Navy. He served as an official corresponding academician for the Royal Art Academy based in Poitiers, which regulated regional arts and artistic training.
Titled: Paysage au Moulin (Windmill Landscape) and Paysage au Pont et au Pigeonnier (Landscape with a Bridge and a Dovecote) by Pierre François Laurent ( 1739–1809 ) after Francois Boucher ( 1703-1770).
